3D Dental Tomography
What is 3D dental tomography?
Fundamental principal of 3D dental tomography is that it demonstrates the inside and the surroundings of an object using multi-projection. Carestream 9000 3D Digital Panoramic and Volumetric Dental Tomography Machine is used at our clinics. With 3D dental tomography, the best treatment planning can be made being exposed to very little radiation.
In which circumstances is 3D dental tomography scan performed?
It is performed in such cases in which estimation of the position of embedded wisdom teeth, the relationship between wisdom teeth and anatomical areas (its distance from nerve and vessel wiring in lower jaw and sinus cavities in upper jaw) is required and in which estimation of the bone structure with 3D dental tomography is required for implant placement. Hence, both aesthetically and functionally best result is achieved with the placement of implants to the most convenient area. It is also highly helpful in treatment planning of vesicles and other pathologies in the jaws. Cyst boundaries can be defined in detail and cysts can be completely removed from the area.
Is radiation level high in 3D dental tomography? Does it harm?
There is a little difference between the radiation level which 3D dental tomography emits when only either lower jaw or upper jaw is scanned and during standard panoramic dental tomography (on which both jaws are displayed). So, it has a relatively lower radiation level than computed tomography in which whole body is scanned.
We gathered what you are concerned about radiation for you.
