Aesthetic Fillings (Bonding)
Why are aesthetic implementations required for fillings?
Nowadays, the purpose of dental treatments is that they are both visually and functionally satisfactory. For this reason, the main goal is to make fillings in natural tooth color and shape, filling lines not apparent and the patient unable to distinguish it from his natural teeth.
What is aesthetic filling?
The material of aesthetic filling is composite. It can be shaped, connected to tooth chemically, and hardened with halogen light.
Are aesthetic fillings durable?
Although it was highly believed that amalgam fillings were more solid, with advanced technology, the substance of the material is solidified. They became structurally more long-lasting, healthier, and more aesthetic.
Do aesthetic fillings have a lifespan?
Considering aesthetic fillings, there will be no deformities, gaps or leaking with the help of routine oral care. Your fillings are maintained, polished and made more long-lasting at your appointments between 6 months and 1 year. In short, the lifespan of the fillings is related to patient’s oral care.
Is it required to replace the fillings over time?
No. As long as the oral care is done, replacement is not required unless decaying is detected.
What is the resistance of aesthetic fillings? Do they protect the teeth?
They are more protective against possible fractures due to the fact that they are close to the hardness of natural teeth and chemically bound to the teeth.
Should I have aesthetic fillings or porcelain veneers applied?
We would like the protection of natural tooth structure as long as it is possible. It is evaluated to what extent the teeth that are weakened due to large cavities or fractures can be reinforced with primarily esthetic filling. With the advances in composite technology, the durability of many teeth which required porcelain veneers in the past are ensured for a very long time only with aesthetic fillings.
